I know!  I was in shock too.  What a great surprise to find Avocados being served in the local restaurants of Chania (a major city of Crete) during my honeymoon to Greece.  My wife and I were having lunch at this  cute little Taverna on the harbor, and I had one of those foodie “ah-ha” moments.  Avocado and Feta!  Their flavor profiles worked so well together that I had to work on something when I got home.

“The annual avocado production in Chania, Crete reaches 4,000 MT, which represents 90% of the total avocado production in Greece. Fuerte, Hass and Ettinger are the main varieties produced.”
